Merciful Lord, grant to your faithful people pardon and peace, that we may be cleansed from all our sins and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

This Sunday (February 5th) is Women’s Ministry Sunday. The Ministry of Anglican Church Women:

Who is an Anglican Church Woman? Well, she is any baptized Anglican female. The title Anglican Church Women encompasses the many and varied ministry roles that women undertake in the church. No aspect of church life is denied women in the Anglican Church and we all benefit from female ministry as it is carried out liturgically, pastorally, administratively and in social action. The ministry of women is in evidence in every part of church life.

The organization called Anglican Church Women, often referred to by its acronym, ACW, is heeding the call of our Primate and the National Church by emphasizing its mission and ministry role in being the church.

This was in evidence in the Leadership Conference, A Journey Just Begun: Ministering Together, and Celebration Eucharist, at St. John’s, Lunenburg in September, 2010 when the Anglican Church Women Nova Scotia Board invited women from the Diocese to commemorate 125 years of organized women’s ministry in our Diocese and in Canada.

It was in evidence at the Annual Meeting 2011 on April 30 at Christ Church, Dartmouth, with its theme, The Love of Jesus Calls Us and, before that, at the ACW Lenten Quiet Day, March 26, at St. Francis by the Lakes, Lower Sackville with the theme: I am the vine, you are the branches.

Our Bishop, The Right Reverend Susan Moxley, Bishop of the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, preached this morning (11:00 a.m. service) in Westminster Abbey, London, England. She is the first woman to ever preach from this pulpit.
